Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy

Read-it, Read-it frog bookmark pattern

As a needlework designer, children's author, and avid reader and stitcher, I know the importance of literacy. Funk & Weber Designs, along with other needlework designers, is making a commitment to the Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy cause by designing bookmarks. Participating designers will donate to libraries, schools, or literacy programs a minimum of 10% of profits from the sale of Needle and Thread bookmark patterns.

But it doesn't stop there. You and your customers can support literacy in your own community by taking part in the first annual Bookmark Challenge.

Join independent needlework shops across the US in collecting hand-stitched bookmarks from your customers between March 20 and May 8. Then donate the bookmarks to your local library or school during Children’s Book Week, May 12-18, 2008.

Be part of this national effort and make a difference in your corner of the world. For detailed information, ideas, and tools for participating in this Challenge, explore the 2008 Bookmark Challenge Kit.

More Needlework Puzzles!

In addition to our patterns, we now have two booklets of 15 needlework puzzles each available for use in newsletters, promotions, and at camps and stitch-ins. These logic, word, and math puzzles are built around needlework companies, designers, products, stitches, and everything needlework.

Personalized puzzles, exclusive to your shop, will be made on request. For instance, we can create a logic puzzle revealing details about your shop employees, or upcoming events, promotions, and classes. And that's just the beginning! Contact us for further information and prices.
