EmbroiderMe!™: Bracelet Basics and Beyond

Class bracelet: griffin stitch

Get your needlework off the wall and into your life! Learn to stitch a fabulous, fully customized bracelet at The Stitchers' Village, Jan. 11 - Feb. 7, 2010.

Four lessons will guide you step-by-step from start to finish.

  • Step 1: The Decorative Stitch
  • Step 2: Edge Finishing
  • Step 3: Back Finishing
  • Step 4: Stringing beads and clasps
Once you've learned the bracelet basics, you can alter the decorative stitch, change fabrics and fibers, and add beads and charms to create an infinite number of one-of-a-kind, perfectly sized bracelets. Download instructions, diagrams, and images, then participate in group discussions and ask questions in our private TSV forum. Basic knowledge of needlework techniques required: beginning and ending threads, reading a diagram, etc.

Visit The Stitchers' Village for further details, a materials list, and to register. Class kits are available from Village shops and directly from me. E-mail kit requests and questions to mail at funkandweber.com (remove the spaces).

Shop owners, access ideas and instructions on how to participate in the Challenge in the Bookmark Challenge Kit. Also, visit the Retailers' Info page to subscribe to Funk & Weber Notes, our occasional email announcements about new patterns, classes, special events, and the Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program.

Fall, In Pieces

#111 Fall, In Pieces

Brilliant colors, nature, and puzzles--all the interests and details that define Funk & Weber Designs come together in this follow-up to Puzzle Pisces. Lifelike multi-colored leaves, acorns, berries, tiny "alder cones," a maple seed pod, and a ladybug bring the vivid colors of Fall indoors, without tracking in dirt.

Overdyed threads from The Gentle Art add to the natural look, varying subtly and randomly. I used a "blob" stitching technique to take advantage of the fibers' natural shading ability. Read our Overdyed Threads Tutorial if you'd like to do the same.

The Gentle Art provides a thread pack for this pattern to make fiber selection a snap. Ask for it at your local independent needlework shop.

Fabric: 28 ct. Antique White Cashel Linen (3281-101) from Zweigart®
Stitch count: 185W x 167H
