Termination Dust: Denali and Wonder Lake
No. 100 “Termination dust” is the first snow of the upcoming winter season, often only a dusting. It announces the end of summer and the impending arrival of the long winter. “Denali” is the native name for Mt. McKinley, and is used by many Alaskans. At 20,320 feet, it’s the highest mountain in North America. The fall colors on the tundra are at their peak, but winter is coming soon.
