Needlework Nutshell: Bookmark Baubles With Eye-pins
Bead baubles add weight and swing to a stitched bookmark, which can be a nice finishing touch. Plus, it allows us to use some of those nifty beads we've collected here and there.
Along with an eye-pin, you will need assorted beads, 2 split rings to attach the needlework and ribbon (the one for the ribbon might need to be large if you're using a wide ribbon), your stitched bookmark fob, and about 2-feet of ribbon, wire cutter, and round-nose pliers.
The needlework here is from our pattern, Tags for Bags, Clips for Zips: The Beach.
Assemble beads on the eye-pin. I aim for 1 1/2- to 2-inches in length, and I like to use a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, but nothing that will steal focus from the needlework.
Cut the wire about a half-inch above the top bead, and curl the wire around round-nose pliers to make another eye.
Keep cutting bits off the wire and re-curling until the eye is just above the top bead.
Attach split rings to the bead bauble at both ends. Attach needlework to one split ring. Thread ribbon through the other split ring and secure in the middle of the ribbon with a knot.
The ribbon tucks inside the book to mark your place while the bead bauble and needlework drape over the front of the book. If you doubled your ribbon, as we've done here, you can mark two pages.
